wiki 5 20/20 - Glad to see someone outside period 5 get to see this speech. It was PERFECT (as you pointed out) for the senior generation present!
Brian Loesel
On Wednesday I hap the opportunity to spend time with my grandma on my last grandparents day ever. It was a good time seeing her a spending time with her, but we also got to here some good public speaking and my personal favorite was Brian Loesel's speech he gave about Albert Pujols. It was a very good speech that everyone could connect to. Brain did a very good job with his eye contact even with the use of a powerpoint. He was able to keep giving his speech while he was changing the slides. He also had very good hand motions. He was describing what he was saying with his hands very well and he wasn't over using the hands either. The topic he used was also very good because he could really connect with the audience because about 98 percent of the people in the room where die hard Cardinals fans so they really enjoyed it. So for this week I thought that Brain did a great job and his speech was great as well.
wiki 4 - 20/20 - I was really glad to hear this about your Coach.. I actually taught him back when he was a senior at LHS... and recall he was pretty good even then!
Coach Schenk
Last night after football are Coach Brad Schenk gave us our little chapel that we have before every football game. His was very good he was able to use a powerpoint with success with only two technical difficulties when he tried to load a video from the internet. In his message he was explaining a couple of points his first was how never to give up even when the odds of are against you. He used the example of the Olympics when the US was down in the 100 meter freestyle relay when we where losing to the French and we came back and won by .08 of a second. The other point he had that he mixed with the story was that nothing was impossible through God that no matter what the problem is you can overcome it with God on your side. But besides his message being good his eye contact and his use of the powerpoint where also good. Because he used a powerpoint he was able to give a lot of eye contact another positive was that he didn't read the powerpoint word for word he was able to sum up what he wanted to say and that was good. So this week was my favorite so far because the message was good and the delivery was good as well.
wiki 3 - 10/23 - 20/20 - good post. you caught the upflects! not many did! good!
Mizel
Mondays chapel speaker was Vicar Mizel. I thought that he was a solid public speaker who addressed the audience very well and had very good eye contact. But other things that i noticed about him is that he used his hands a lot. Which was good sometimes but he tended to use both of his hands to explain something or he would use his hands when it wasn't need like when he was just reading. He also moved around a lot which is good until he started pacing back and fourth but he didn't do it that much only when he seemed uncomfortable. He was a solid speaker though he only had one time when he must up talking all he did was get two words mixed up but he just kept on going and didn't let it faze him. But the one thing that i did notice more than anything was his up flecting. He would do that after everything he would say but every time i've ever heard him talk that is how his voice usually sounds. so once again we had another solid speaker for our chapel.
wiki 2 - 10/16 - 20/20 great entry - he does keep teenagers focused well with lots of activity!
Mr. Stec
Today in chapel we had the pleasure of listening to Mr. Stec give us some public speaking. During his speech i noticed some things about the way he delivers his message. I thought that Mr. Stec's eye contact was good, because he seemed to be doing it all by memory, because of the power point not working so that was good, but he moves around so much that it draws to much attention to him instead of his speech. I caught myself a few times just watching the way he moves around instead of what he was saying. Sometimes it all so seemed like he wold get a little tongue tied and would mubble a bit so what he was saying was not always clear. Another thing about his actual talking was that he would up flect from time to time, but not always so that all so caught my attention. But overall he did a good job. It takes a lot of courage to go up and talk to a crowd like this so once again i think he did a good job.
wiki 1 - 20/20 - good response! I moved your entry to the TOP of the wiki page. Please always work from the very top! Thanks.

Pastor Clausing
Pastor Clausing's Physical delivery was pretty good. To start it off his appearance was the same as it always is. But there was some things that I noticed today about him that I really never noticed before. For starters when he first begins to speak he grabs onto the stand and looks around. As he starts to get into the speech him begins to move around more but he always finds his way back to the stand to hold on to it. Another thing i noticed was the movement of his hands. He used his hands to point out everything by using mix of one or both hands, which he did a lot of. His eye contact was pretty good. He would look right to left good, but not always to the middle but never the less it was still good eye contact i still felt like he was talking to me and the walls or something behind me. The last thing that i realized was his laugh. He seemed to laugh a ton. I don't know if thats a nervous thing or if he is just happy all the time. I would say that he is happy which is good when you are giving a speech about God.
Short Story
Mohitay
“Chief Mohitay, chief Mohitay. The whit people are coming”. Is what I heard as I awoke from my sleep. “Relax my children and tell me what the problem is”. The children ran into my hut and sat beside me and began to say, “Running Wolf was out hunting this mourning and he said he saw some strange looking people. People with pale skin as white as the frozen rain in the cold season, and they where heading towards our tribe”. After they had said that I had to think to myself for a second. Why would anyone come to our tribe, and who where they? “Thank you young ones you my go, but make sure to tell no one else about this”. The children nod there heads and went on there way. I arose form my bed and began to walk around in my hut as I always do in the mourning. Tip toeing around so I do not awake my wife and young son form there sleep. Then I stopped and looked at my son and thought to myself that he is going to make a great chief when he is older. I walked outside the sun was shinning bright and my tribe was hard at work cooking cleaning and putting together new tents. They where completely unaware of the danger I feared would be upon us soon.
As I was looking at the land blessed to us by mother earth I saw Noble Eagle my second in command he came up to me and asked, “What should we do about the pale skins on the horizon”? I answered him by saying, “Call for the elders and tell a massager to go get the leader of the pale skins to see what he is doing here, and tell them to meet in the tent of wisdom”. “It will be done sir”. He said running to go collect what I had asked him for. I peered back into my tent to see that my wife was awake and standing there waiting for me with a look of concern in her eyes. “What troubles you my wife”? I asked grasping her for a hug. “Who are the pale skins”? I was shocked she must have heard the children when they came in this mourning. I was trying to think of something to say so that she would not worry but she saw right through me. “Don’t lie to me”. She said. “Tell me the truth”. I stopped and looked at her she was the most beautiful of all of the women in the great valley, and I could not lie to her. “They are outsiders, but don’t panic we are meeting with them shortly to see why they are here”. I said to my wife as she looked a bit concerned. “Why would outsiders come here? They have no right to be on our land”. She said to me with a fire in her eyes. “You must be calm I am going to the Wisdom tent shortly to meet with them and then we will see why they are on our land”. I said again to reassure her that it will be ok. “I must go now I will return to you shortly after we are done inside of the tent and I will tell you of the news”. I said beginning to move towards to opening of my tent. “You come back and tell me the truth don’t try to lie about it at all”. She said looking at me sternly. She feared the same as me, and unfortunately I believed that those fears would become a reality.
I began to walk towards the tent, but this time when I was outside I noticed that the people where not as happy and hard at work they where more confused and frightened at the sight of the pale people. So I just had to stay strong and look fearless no matter what to make sure that my people would not be afraid. I peered into the Tent of Wisdom to see the elders, my generals, the pale skins and there warriors. So I stood at the head of the tent and said, “I am chief Mohitay leader of the powerful tribe of Chyea, and I must ask you men why are you here and for what reasons”? The pale skins looked at me for a moment then there leader stood up and said “I am General Stevenson of the United States Army and we are here to compromise a deal with you”. I looked at him with a bit of shock and asked, “What is your deal”? He answered by saying, “Well chief this is some mighty fine land you got here, and being that our great country of the United States is growin so rapidly that me have come here to buy this land from you, and you and your people can leave on these nice little places that we have set up for ya. So how does that sound”? I couldn’t believe what I had just heard this little man has just come onto my land and into my village say that he wants to take it form me. I answered the man with such anger by saying, “You must be crazy to think that we will give you this land that we have lived on forever so that you have more room for your new country. Well I’ll tell you something there is no way you will ever have this land now leave right now”! The general didn’t even seem the bit mad or anything he actually had a grin on his face. Then he looked up at me and said, “Well chief I thought you say that. So I’m gonna give you a choice. Either you give us the land or we’ll take it”. I was even more shocked by that. I looked at him with nothing but anger burning in my eyes and I said, “Try to take it”. The general looked at me with a grin and said, “Alright chief we’ll meet yah in the valley today when the soon is in the middle of the sky”. I said to him “We will be there”. The men left the tent and all of the elders looked at me in shock of what had just happen I told them that they need to warn all of the families and that we need to get the strongest men to fight and everyone else is to escape at night down the river to be free form the pale skins.
I walked out of the tent to see that the people where already gathering there belongings to prepare for the journey ahead of them, I also saw the formation of my small army preparing there weapons and saying good bye to there families, because they new this would be the last time they saw them. I walked to my tent to see my wife outside it crying she ran up to me grabbed me tight in her arms and said, “I can’t loose you”. She was crying uncontrollably and I said to her, “I swear to you that I will come back. Nothing in this world will ever keep me form coming back to you. I love you with all of my heart and I will see you at the river by night fall”. She looked at me with the pain in her eyes, because she wanted to believe me but she knew that it was nearly impossible for us to ever see each other again in this life time. While I was holding her I saw my son come out so my wife and I both went over to him and I said “Son one day this tribe will be yours, and when it is I have no doubt that you will be the best chief that any one has ever seen, and I cannot wait to see you become that man”. I took him and held both my son and wife in my arms for I knew that it was almost mid day and almost time for our war.
It was mid day we waited in the valley. I had with me 400 of the strongest men that Chyea had to offer. We where now waiting for the General to show up with his men. As we waited I thought to myself about my family and tribe and how I hope they make it safely to the river and how I will miss my family with all of my heart just as I was think I hear someone shout, “They are here”! Looked to see that we where out numbered they had at least 2, 000, but I wasn’t scared I was ready to die for my tribe and land so I turned to my tribe and yelled “CHYEA”! Just as I yelled we all charged towards them and they began running to us we where shooting our arrows and they had these mysterious hand cannons that would kill our men in one hit, but that didn’t stop us. There were mass amounts of loss on both sides men where dieing left and right, but it seemed every time we killed one of them they would kill two of us. The fighting went on for hours until on the there soldiers yelled fall back. All of them started to run back towards there camp. I began to wonder why they had left, and then I saw him. General Stevenson laying on the field dead with an arrow in his chest. We had won I turned to the men and yelled, “CHYEA”! They all began yelling it too, as we began walking back to our village then I thought to myself. I will see my family again.
Enemy Terriory
If I was in Pablo's place I wouldn't have acted crazy and broken the restaurants items. I would have just left and ignored the prejudice remarks. I would act this way because I know if I were to destroy someone's belongings then I would be punished. It is much easier to just ignore the situation because then you won't have to suffer any consequences and besides it takes a bigger man to walk away. This situation wouldn't happen today because the bartender would be afraid of getting sewed which would lead to them having to lose their bar.
A & P
Yes, it matters if the person that you are defending knows that you are defending them. I think this because if they don't know that you are defending them than what is the point of making a fool of yourself for defending someone you don't even know. Plus, in this instance the sales clerk shouldn't be defending the girls because they were disobeying the store rules even though the sales clerk thought they were attractive. A person should know that you are caring for them if you are sticking up for them and it should be proven to them while they are present. If you want to defend somebody then you should make sure they hear it so they know really do care for them.
Good work on wk. 1 - I found your insights interesting.... great start
Charles
I would have to say if i would predict the next scene i would believe that the mom would arrive home and be pretty angry at her husband because he knew the whole time that their child was the trouble maker and he didn't tell her. So she would have made a fool out of herself at the conference and she would really give it to her husband when she got home. I know i would. So the next seen would with out a doubt them getting into a fight because their kid is a problem child and the father knew it and never told her.
The Moustache
I think what he did to his grandma was not a bad thing at all because his grandma is going a bit crazy and her only memories of her husband where bad ones, because he was having other relations on the side so her grandson was able to make her feel better so that she is able to think that her husband didn't cheat on her so that her dying memories are not bad ones of her husband cheating on her but instead of him helping reassure her that he loves her and he would never do something like that besides she wont remember it in the mourning.
Good work on wiki 2! Most folks agreed with you about Mike in "The Moustache"... the lie was the loving thing to do! Good call!
Week 3
Sniper
I thought that the level of violence was good, because it helped grab my attention of a young thrill seeking man, and plus if the violence was not in the story it would make it less exciting and wouldn't grab the readers interest. Plus war is violent and to describe it any less than that would not be good. I also belive a attributed to the violence in the story because it really caught my interest and i would catch myself really getting into the story.
Sniper
Throughout the whole story i was wondering who the other sniper was. Because the sniper had a very good shot and seemed to have been hunting the main character the whole time. Then i thought that it might have been someone he knew because he felt so bad after he killed him which i thought was wierd because he just killed an old lady and was fine with it and he also wanted to go see him after he was dead and he ended up being his brother.
Great job on wiki 3! Try to hit 100 words each time... the top one is a tad short.
The Finish of Patsy Bears
I liked the story because every time Patsy was faced with a problem he would never give up or back down he would push forward to overcome his adversity. Patsy had it tuff first his dad died which left him alone to take care of his mom who became sick and wouldn't get any help from the doctor because they where black and lived in the wrong part of town he could have gave up then and said of darn this sucks, but he didn't instead he desided to do something about it by taking control of the situation by entering a horse race and winning the money himself. Which was extremely brave and thats what I liked about the story. That someone with all the odds against him was able to fight through all his personal problem to be able to save his mothers life.
Antaeus
I thought it was very important that TJ through the grass off the top of the roof, because it was the boy's creation and no one deserved to destroy it but the boy's. Plus doing that speaks to TJ's leadership qualities, Because all of those boy's flocked to him and if TJ wasn't the first to start throwing all the grass off of the roof then none of them would have because they looked up to TJ and they would do anything that there leader would do. Also it was good because it helped them stand up to prejudice. The prejudice of adults to children which is a very real thing because adults just assumed that they where up to no good when really they where making something beautiful and good for the environment. Thats why TJ did all these things at the end. One to stand up and be a leader, and two to help break down the walls of prejudice.
wiki 5 - Great job on your posts both this week and last. You have a lot of interesting ideas and I enjoy hearing them.
The New Kid
In the story i believe that it is what goes around comes around, because its what you would call a pecking order in which the weakest of the group is the one who is picked on the most until he finds someone weaker than him. In this case Marty was the weakest of the group so he got the most hazing from the older kids, until the new kid showed up. At first Marty was chilled with him but when he drop the fly ball in baseball Marty laughed at him and the new kid smarted off to Marty which is something you don't do if your in a new place so Marty beat him up and made the new kid the new punk, and thats how its going to be until he man's up or another new kid come to twon.
One Friday Mourning
I really enjoyed the story One Friday Mourning, because of how Nancy won the award and then lost it because of her race, and when she lost the award she didn't freak out or get mad about it she just took it like a grown up and kept on going. Thats what I liked that she was able to handle such prejudice at a time when it was crazy. she just kept being strong and wouldn't let the evil in the world bring her down. That really makes you think of all the prejudice in the world today and how Langston Hughes was trying to communicate a message of peace and equality in a time when it was bad to be anything but white.
