The chapel led on Monday of this week by the LHS students was very good. They did stick to reading their script alot but i dont know if they had time to rehearse or not. That wasnt a very good public speaking thing to do. They also didnt make much eye contact but it was a chancel drama so they wernt supposed to see the audience i guess? Corey Bouchers sermon type thing at the end was very well done and it must have taken him to have some big kahones to do that in front of everyone. He obviously isnt a professional so his eyes didnt get around the room to much but his voice wasnt too shaky and he didnt seem too nervous. overall it was a very good chapel led by my fellow peers.
Poetry
In The Colors----Nov 11th
In the colors of me
most people can see.
when Im mad
Devil Red.
or when Im sad
The Darkest Blue. or
Shades of Grey
for when Im having a bland day.
I love to be happy
the yellow in me
is the color most people will see.
Thunder A Haiku-----Nov 11th
The loud clap outside,
Scares the children awake
Dad will comfort them.
New Orleans------Nov 16th
The drive to New Orleans is long.
I cannot wait to get my party on.
but unfortunatley i am not alome
I am with the people from my home.
Burbon street is where the party seems to be
but my dad will not let me.
Their Southern Hospitality is the best.
Hurricane Katrina laid alot to rest.
For the damage is sad
but
i am boarding my cruise ship glad.
Swim------Nov 22nd
Life is like a swimming pool
on a perfect day
its refreshing and wonderful.
the swim lessons you have learned
make you feel invincible.
bu every so often,
the lifeqaurds must resuce you
another lesson learned.
you keep swimming splashing with everyone
just dont pee in the pool and ruin
life for everyone.
LHS A Haiku----Nov 22
O your one hallway,
how great it is to roam it!
cannot wait to leave.
Man in The Mall---------Nov 23
The man in the mall.
sitting on the couch,
all alone.
across from victorias secret
is he waiting for someone?
he seems so nice.
with a thick beard and big glasses.
but yet I wonder?
why can't he be within 200 yards of a school
without being arrested.
i better keep walking.
wiki 5 - 17/20 _(had browser issues at home, reported them on Monday 11.9.09.) gave discounted score, as a result.) On the whole, a good review. More to the point, did the presenter "bail" on the kids by not give more lead up or follow up to go with their presentation. It seemed a bit "lost" out there in the big open gym, didn't it? More time spent prepping would have improved it, you are right about that!

wiki 5 - 0/20 no post for 11/6
wiki 4 - 20/20 - Good post. I have mixed feelings about ignoring the bird. Part of me thinks it would be a good idea to acknowledge its presence...so people would stop being surprised as they "discover" it. And then move on...

Pastor Clausing's chapel on Wednesday October 28 2009 was a bit informational on the two siants Jude and Simon thr Zealot. I thought his visual aid with the picture on the power point was a bit of a waste all it did was distract people and it didnt even truly depict what the two apostles looked like. Pastor Clausing alway has good postiure and makes fairly good eye contact. Sometimes his little laughe HEHE distracts from his ppoints and if i were grading him i would mark it off as a verbal pause. The bird also was distracting but Pastor Clausing pushed through it without having it distract him. That was a very good example of how to deal with a distraction during a speech. Pastor Clausing also shifts his weight on his heels to his toes and that is distracting to the audience. He has been doing chapels for a long time and is very good at presenting one overall.
wiki 3 - 0/20 no post recorded this week.
wiki 2 - 16/20 - good comments... your entries are running a bit short of 200 words. Pull out your checklist and see if you can't find more to discuss. If you can't, then you should find a speech where you can. For example, why was it more effective for him to use the team as a visual aid?

Today at chapel Mr Kulhmann and the seinors of the football team lead chapel. Mr kulhmann was a very good presenter. he got his eyes around the whole room and he didnt even need a script or any kind of notes. He used his arms to emphasize his points and there went to many of them so it was very good. The demonstartion he used along with the visual aid very much got his point across. He knew his speech very well and barley had anythings that were messed up.
wiki 1 20/20 - great response work. So the guy is excused from needing to be dynamic because he's OLD?! hmmm? Interesting!

The pastor on monday, Pastor Arlie that presented chapel had a very good message but his delivery of it was quite a boring one. His voice was very soft and montone it could put almost anyone to sleep. Also he was a little short and behind the big podieum he shrunk. Despite the negative things he did make a few good things. He wasnt all over the gym like other presenters (mr. stec) he also made some hand gestures but not too many to the point it was over the top (mr. stec). He also made good eye contact. He got his eyes all around the gym and didnt focus on one group. He could have looked more at the gorups in his pheriphials more though. Due to the age of the speaker his talking pace was a little slower than normal but that wasnt too much of a problem because people expected it from an old man like Pastor Arlie.

Like your Haiku... could you strengthen the image of the frightened chidren... for example "Chases the children from dreams" is a stronger personification than just stating the obvious "scares the children awake" - see what I mean? Imagery... tricky stuff, but always interesting!
