wiki 5 17/20 - sorry but I asked (back on week one) that you observe 5 different speakers and you've already done Pastor Clausing. There are many more online and in real life that you could choose from. The post is fine, the failing to follow directions is a 15% deduction.

Pastor clausings weds(?) chapel
Pastor clausing did a pretty good job again on weds chapel, As we mentioned in class, he did a great job using hand motions and gestures to keep people interested and to show that he was into his presentation. But again, as we said in class, he does the "okay" sign a little to often. Whenever a person uses hand motions in a way that it becomes destracting, its not good for the speech. Pastor Clausing didnt quite make it to the annoying part, but he did make it noticable. He has pretty good articulation and pronunciation, so no problems there. His silly little laugh, was kept to a minimum which is always good for his speech. He seemed to be very into his speech and knew exactly what he wanted to say which makes things run alot smoother. He didnt seem to be reading to us, he was speaking to us. So +1 for that. Great eye contact-unlike how i tend to "perform". Overall, a great job!
wiki 4 - 20/20 - Good post. I have mixed feelings about the bird. I think I might have stopped, acknowledged it was there, and then asked everyone to refocus on my message. As it was, it distracted new groups each time it moved. But I am not sure it would have made a difference... like I said - mixed feelings.

1. Pastor Clausings Weds Chapel.
As Usual, Pastor Clausing did a pretty good job with his chapel presentation. Two things that shouldn't go unmentioned about his chapel include his powerpoint and the bird in the gym. The powerpoint didn't take away from his presentation. Honestly, if he wouldnt if had the opening line of "I know you guys think the chapel message will be boring because of this old picture" (or something like that) I would of totally been out of focus. The picture kept me paying attention just to see what his plan was for making the message entertaining. Now I wont keep elaborating on that part of the powerpoint because I know that deals with his content. But anyway, The powerpoint did a great job of keeping out interest and it didnt destract from his speech whatsoever. The second important part was the bird flying through the gym. I watched Pastor Clausing to see if he would get distracted by it, but Nope not even one glance at it. I know he had to of known it was there, I mean it was so obvious. But he didnt let it lead him out of focus. Overall, The presentaion portain of his sermon was very well presented and seemed well prepared!
wiki 3 - 0/20 - no post for week ending Oct. 23rd.
wiki 2 - 20/20 - I agree with you.. they DID do a good job!

1. Thursday's chapel with the football players and Mr. Khulmann
I was VERY impressed with Mr. Khulmann and the football players chapel! All of them spoke very clearly and articulated their words very well. Mr. Khulmann in particular did awesome! In most chapels, I pay attention but you know how it is, you have to zone out every once in a while, on the more boring parts. BUT with Mr. Khulmann's chapel I was bright eyed and paying attention the whole time! He did a fantastic job at relating to the audience. I love when chapel speakers use cool props, it keeps me interested. Not only did he use cool props, but he also seemed very much into his speech. just the way he spoke, moved around, and got into it, made me feel like he was dedicated to the time he was giving. They all seemed very well prepared! I honestly, didn't see any points in which to critic. i mean, I'm no pro at the whole public speaking thing, but from what I do know, it seemed Greeeeat!
wiki 1 20/20 - great response work!

1. Monday's Chapel speaker.
Monday's Chapel speaker did an alright job, with his public speaking skills. First I'll start with the bad things: When ever he first started talking he went soo sloww that I thought we would be in chapel for an hour! I mean I guess some people are slower talkers, but it just seemed as if he was talking down to u, like we didnt understand what he was saying. As he kept going, it got better, but it still reminded me of a cute old grandpa, talking to his grandkids. On to the good things: when he dropped his mic...twice...he did a pretty good job of recovering. He also did a farely well job of keeping our attention. He tried to relate us, the audience, to his speech. He used examples that we could relate to and might of even experienced. Overall, I think he did a pretty good job. No one is perfect, so of course there are a few things that he could brush up on. But most things are probably just habbit.
The Carnival
It was Friday night and it was just one of those nights, that you know will be perfect. The whether was perfect, the stars were beginning to peek their way through, the moon was in full bloom, and to top it off, my hair wasn’t frizzy at all! To celebrate this beautiful night, my girls and I decided to head down to the carnival, that was in town. It only came once a year and only stayed for one week.
I put on my favorite sparkly top, that I had just bought and my very fashionable, A.E. jeans and slipped on my flip flops. Then I grabbed my purse and ran down the street to catch up with the girls. Their were only four of us, but that’s all we needed. Lily was the girly girl; she kept us all up on the latest fashions. Brooke is the athletic one; she plays every sport and is number one at them all, too. April was the outgoing, crazy one, she makes everyone laugh. Then theirs me, I don’t know how you would categorize me, I guess I’m still trying to find who I am. But anyways, we all get along perfectly and love each other, like sisters.
The carnival, had everything from cotton candy, to the Bruiser Roller Coaster-which was the biggest one a carnival could have. It soared high up into the sky and flipped and turned all over the park. The place was filled with people of all ages. I was pretty happy we didn’t drive there, because there were absolutely, no parking places!
We decided to kick off the evening with bumper cars. We all four have pretty competitive spirits-especially Brooke-which made for a lot of fun. When our time was up, we each grabbed a stick of cotton candy. Brooke and I had blue, while Lily and April took pink. We decided it would be best, if we finished our cotton candy while on the Ferris wheel-that way we waste no time.
We are known for girl talk, if you know what I’m sayin’. I mean, we are always checkin’ out whose around us. Lily and April are the leaders in that, no doubt. Anyways, we were all ogling over this dude that was on the ground below us. He was in line for the spinning barrels. I would say he was about 6’1, spiky brown hair, and a tan complexion. You could just tell he was “cool” by the way he dressed and by the way his friends circled around him. We were pretty cool, but he was still out of our league.
Wants we got off the Ferris Wheel, Mr. Eye Candy, was already on his ride, so we moved on to the next event; The Bruiser. We all loved roller coasters, but don’t care who you are, the Bruiser will scare you to death. The line was like a million miles long, but we decided the wait would give us time to calm down and get prepared. After about fifteen minutes, it was our turn to get on. It sits four across, which was perfect. Lily and Brooke were the biggest babies, so April and I sat on the two ends. With Brooke next to me.
The ride, first, slowly carries you to this tunnel, that’s literally pitch black. I mean, you cant see your hand in front of your face. While in the tunnel a recording comes on:
“Welcome to the Bruisers lair, where no one gets out alive! Muhahaha! Prepare to meet your fate!”
Then, you see all this “lightening” crackling around you. Then, the front opens up and you get about a quarter of a second to look out and see nothing. It looks as if you will just fall out of the tunnel, to your death. After you get the quarter of a second to totally freak out, it shoots you 60 mph off of this massive, steep drop off. Your behind is literally off the seat the entire time!
Through my intense screaming, I look over and see Brooke along with Lily, pretty much hyperventilating, while April has her hands up yelling, “Wahoo!”
The ride had us spinning up and down and backwards. It felt like we had been on it for an eternity. By this time us four all had our eyes clenched shut. Finally the roller coaster began to slowly come to a halt. We heard the people around us all screaming, but I was still over come by fear and couldn’t focus, yet. Wants I came to my senses, I decided to peek open my eyes. At first all I saw was the cart in front of me, but something didn’t seem right. My head felt heavy and I just had an odd feeling. I turned to look out of the roller coaster, but I saw nothing. I looked down only to realize we were on one of the tallest upside down parts of the roller coaster, dangling in mid-air.
At first, I was thinking it was all apart of the ride, you know, to make it more intense, but after we had been stopped for 30 seconds or so, I could feel that something wasn’t right. I looked down to see people below us scrambling out form under us and I heard sirens off in the distance. All I could do was scream! Of course, that’s about the time that my friends realized what was going on. We were all screaming helplessly!
The park managers were pushing all the curious passerby’s out of the way, while the game runners were piling up blankets and stuffed animals in case someone was to fall out. While still others, tried to get the coaster running again.
After a few minutes, out of no where, this guy comes crawling up the ride! He was really tall and I could see that he was full of muscle. As he began to get closer to us I realized it was Mr. Eye Candy! By then the fire department, ambulances and about 20 cop cars showed up. Then five guys-one for every roller coaster cart-began to climb up the ride, right after the boy.
By now Brooke and especially Lily, were emerged in fear. They were absolutely hysterical! So all of a sudden-I had no idea where it came from-but I began screaming for Mr. Eye Candy-he was the closet one to us, to help my friends. He heard me and came racing over. He began to give me instructions telling me to calm down and that he would get me out. He told me to grab on to the tracks of the roller coaster and he would unbuckle me.
“ No, Not me! Help my friends first!” I screamed.
He replied, “are you sure?”
“Yes, I owe you one! Thanks!
He then went straight over to Lily. Wants he got her to calm down, they were up and on their way down.
Now, the firemen guys were almost to the top, the boy passed Lily off to one of them and they worked their way off the ride, to safety. The rest of the cops and firemen came up and they helped the people off the other carts. While the boy helped my friends off.
I was last. It had been about 25 minutes and I was starting to feel the weight on my head. I looked down to see two firemen working their way up for me. Wants they got there they quickly unbuckled my seat and gave me the instructions on how to get down.
I was about half way down when I started feeling woozy. I couldn’t think straight and I felt completely weak. The last thing I remember, is the guys yelling, “hold on! Get her! She’s goin’ down!”
Whenever I finally came back to, I was lying in a hospital bed, with a cast around my arm and another around my leg. It took me a second to figure out what was going on. How had this happened? Was last night just a really bad nightmare? The Carnival. The Bruiser. Mr. Eye Candy. It was all coming back to me.
Right about that time, is when my friends- who had been in the room with me all night- realized I was awake. They all began to, pretty much, jump on me and all talk at once. They told me how I had passed out half way down and now Mr. Eye Candy had saved over half the passengers.
Right about then, a knock came to the door and a middle-aged nurse walks in. she was holding a massive bouquet of flowers! It was probably the prettiest thing I had ever seen. The beautiful, precious smell was suffocating.
“These just arrived for you, sweetie, some ones a very lucky girl and I don’t mean just because your alive.” The nurse said.
Then she left after handing me the card that came with the bouquet. I slowly began to open the card, completely skipping over the front and going straight to the hand written writing which read:
“Dinner tonight. Then we’re even. (smiley face) Your Friend, Mr. Eye Candy”
Not only did a rush of happiness consume me, but a feeling of accomplishment filled my heart and mind. Honestly, it wasn’t even my lust over Mr. Eye Candy that gave me the feelings, in fact it was hardly that at all. Instead, I got a feeling of gratefulness and belonging. I knew even though I haven’t figured out my whole life yet, that, that’s okay. I know that I was put on this earth for a reason, and that reason will be reviled to me when the time comes. In the end, I knew I was right, even through all the hardships I endured that night, I knew it would still turn out to be perfect.
Mrs. Staude: Wiki 5 was at the bottom of my page, so i moved it up. sorry about that! -Brea Roth (see below)
1. 10 things to do before I die.
-Go to Australia
- Get a Capucion ( spelling?) monkey
- own my own business
- get a mini horse
- get a donkey
- get married
- have a 4.0
- get a softball scholarship to a Division 2 school
2.From mother... With love
I thought the story was pretty predictable. I think that's one of the reasons I didn't choke up and also because I never really got to know the characters. We never knew the mothers disease or much about her to make me care. If they would of just descibed the characters in some way I would of been more into the story. I loved the end though how the mom already bought the presents that was cute.
I don't see wiki 5.- 0/20

1. My thoughts on students having there rights taken away
I really don't understand why students had the decision made for them that they could't watch the speech on TV. I mean, maybe I can understand why kids grade K-6th shouldnt watch it, but High School. Come on. Some students in high school are 18-thats a legal adult. We have the right to hear whats going on in our world. I also think we are at the age where we need to know what is going on. We are told to watch other speeches and debates that are alot more "dangerous" to the students and there was never an arguement about that.
2. My thoughts on Obama's Speech
Now for what I thought about the speech: one word....lame. I mean yeah it had some good points in it, but its points that students hear all the time! stay in school, do your homework, be good. Thats not going to help an almost-high school-drop-out in his decision making. We hear that stuff 24/7. To me it just seemed like his speech was written in about, 10 minutes. You know when you writting an essay and there is always that one point in the essay where you could take the easy way out, where yeah you might get a B on it, OR you could take the more clever and interesting way, that is slightly more challenging. Well to me, Obama took the easy way. The way he worded the easy was just so, well I don't know exactly how to explain it, but it was just-CHEESY! I understand that he had to write it at a kids level but still. All i'm sayin' is he could of put a little more effort into making it more convincing and clever.

1. Theme essay #1
I chose to do the sequel to the story Sixteen for my essay which I entitled Seventeen. Once I figured out my plot and the basic details for the story I was set to go. I was really excited about the story. Yeah I know it was one of those mushy gushy type of stories but it HAD to be done! The author started the story out so cute and cheesy and it just had to be ended like that, so I took care of it. I'm really excited to see what you thought about it and hopefuly your thinking gets me at least an 85%! ;) it didn't take me to long to get the story out and once I was finished I read it to Luise and she loved it!
2. Quarter project
For the quarter project I am going to write a short story. I was motivated to pick this project after writing the sequel short story for essay 1. I have been racking my brain for ideas but haven't decided on anything yet. I'm looking for a clever topic that will hook the reader and make them excited to turn the page! Normally when I write stories for classes I would always write about softball or 4wheeling or something that my brothers and I do, but this time I'm looking for something completely different and unexpected. I know for sure that I want the story to be adventurous and have a touch of humor. Nothing with murder or anything like that. I have alot of time to think right now though while sitting in the car. So I'll keep you posted on my progress!
Great job on your entries. How about a tale about a girl who wants to break away from her "tomboy" ways and struggles to convince her family that she's changed? or a fairy tale about such a girl? just a thought.

1. So what do you all think of this one? What's the "life adjustment" here?
"Charles" is a clever little boy, let me just put that out there. They just got a new member of the family and everyone knows that takes up all the attention. But "Charles" found a way to stop that. By doing what He did it made his parents concentrate and focus on him. Every day when he got home from school or anything out of the ordinary happened around the house they would always refer back to "Charles". By doing this they were giving the real "Charles" the attention and affection that he was looking for.
"Charles" is obviously very used to being an only child and must of liked it like that too. Once that baby entered the door he made it his highest goal in life to still be mommy and daddys "cute little baby boy".
2. Why do girls DO this to themselves??
Well, the short answer would be: its just in our nature. I think most girls just have a feeling that they just have to have a guy in their lives. Girls tend to put guys above all else. They make guys define who they are rather than shape their own personalities and beliefs. I don't Know if I've made it obvious but I don't believe in that way of going about things. If I was that girl and the guy didnt call, i would just be like "okay well it wasn't meant to be, its his loss, someday another guy will come who will be better, so ill just wait till that time comes". After I say that to my self, my self pitying will be over and I will completely forget about the whole thing. Honestly, I have know real answer for why girls do this to themselves, but I find it to be a very dumb thing to do to yourself. The End.
Good job on Wiki 2! I especially admire your common sense! How's project #4 coming along so far?

1. What would you have done in Pablos situation?
Let me start by saying, I NEVER would have been dumb enough to walk over to the wrong side of the street if there was a chance I would get hurt. But, If it was an accident, then I would do the following: after I got done drinking my Diet Dr. Pepper at the bar, and the bartender smashed my cup, I would have said "Well that doesn't do you any good and it doesn't hurt me, so what's the point of ruining a perfectly good glass?!" Then I would have run as fast as my legs could carry me out of that place and I would lock my self in my room for the rest of the night! Ha! I am picturing you doing just this! :-)
I don't think this situation would be very common in this day and age. Maybe out in the rough ROUGH ghettos there is a possiblity of this sort of thing happening but not out here in good 'ol St. Charles Missouri. Really? you think good ole' St. Charles is welcoming to EVERYONE...no prejudices here? Hmmm... I wish I lived in the town you think we have!
2. Was Sammy a "winner" or a "loser" because of the choice he made?
Personally, I think Sammy's decision made him a loser. I mean, come on, he didn't even know the girls! Not only will it look bad on his resume in the future but just what it says as a person is....not good. I mean, yeah, it was cute and sweet of him to stand up for the girls, but he had absolutely nothing to do with the problem. I think what he should of done is stand up for them while they were checking out by saying to his boss, "hey lets not cause problems here, its no big deal they were just leaving". Then all he had to do is get them checked out and let them leave. He may have been called a few bad words after they left, by his boss, but nothing to serious. Problem solved and everyone wins. Good point!
Good job on wk.1

Mrs. Staude, I left for table rock right after school so I planned on doing my wiki on my iPhone but my iPhone decided that it doesn't wanna let me edit my page. So, I'm going to write my wiki through the comment box then once I get home I will fix it so it stays organized. Hopefully I will still get full credit. =]
