All of me is happy, green and vibrant like a tree

Swaying in the wind, like a breese along the sea

But underneath the bark, black and yellow like a bee

Im ready to sting you if you wanta mess with me

Some times I am grey, like a sleepy lazy cat

But when i wake up, black and wild like a bat

Wild and ready, to party and play

When the day turns to night, till the night turns to day.

wiki 5 - 0/20 no post for 11/6

wiki 4 - 20/20 - you are right that the speech didn't have much in the way of content... but also right that he was just trying to make us laugh....good post.

wiki 4

i really enjoyed listening to grant favianos speach on toasted subs. i thought that he did a really good job making his speach entertaining but i thoght that he wasent prepared enough because he seemed to have only one point, that he dident like toasted subs. i thought that he would have made his speach better if he would have expanded on why he dident like toasted subs thae diffrent styles of toasting subs and the reasoning behind his predijuice agnist toasted subs. over all his speach was very entertaining so i would have given him a very good grade because that was the entire point of the speach was to make people laugh.

wiki 3 - 0/20 - no posting as of 10/23

mrs staude im sorry i forgot to do my wiki on time i forgot about it over my birthday weekend.

i watched brian leosal give his speach on wendsday for the informative speach. i thought that brians previous speaches were better than this one. he dident seam quite as prepared as usual. usually brian allways is clear and concise and allways looking at the audience but this speach looked as if he dident know exactly what he was talking about because he had to keep looking at his paper over and over again and studdered a few times. i still think that brian did a good job on it tho and i would rate him as a nine out of ten due to his good posture acasional hand motions and fairly good delivary techiniques.

wiki 2 - 20/20  good job!

In chapel today i observed mr stec giving his speach to our school. he had a bit  of difficulties with his powerpoint presentation but that was ok becasue mr stec dident rely on the power point to give his sermon reather his powerpoint would have just been an added help to his sermon. he mainly had his sermon memorized witch was good becasue it allowed him to get away from the potium and conect with his audience. one thing i also noticed is that he allways uses his hands when he talks, his use of hands helps me stay focused and watch him because i allways want to see what kind of goofy thing he will do next. Mr.Stecs posture and eye contact are usually good and he allways  makes you think that hes talking to everyone not just a certin person in the front of the chapel.

wiki 1  - 15/20 - I am glad you showed up here Scott, but you didn't QUITE do the assignment that I gave on the assignment guide. See me if you need a new one. You were to watch one speech and give us 200 words on what you observed during it.

This unit of english symposiam i think is a very usefull tool for later on in life. i think its inportant to be able to understand and convay information to other people in a manner that is perfessional and clear and concise. i think that the book wer have been reading is very helpfull with helping me to prepare my speaches. next time that i do a speach in front of the class i will hope to get a better grade by leangthing my speach and learning to do more hand guesters and make better i contact with the entire class. I thought that cole bagby did an excellent job in his speach with his card throwing and sucth. it really helped me as an ausience menber to pay attention and concentrate on what cole was saying.

A Pirate's Journey

Most pirates are born into piracy because their father and mother were pirates, but some take on the life of a pirate because of their greed for wealth and riches. Captain McDoughless was the most feared pirate of the Indian Ocean, as well as the most greedy. He was the son of Timothy McDoughless, the best carpenter in all of Port Relanta, but had chosen his destiny as a pirate because of the temptations of riches. With a crew of nearly five hundred, all people on the Indian Ocean coast feared the very name Captain McDoughless.

On June sixth 1666, Captain McDoughless and his crew set sail South along the coast of Somalia to pillage and plunder the very port of his birth, Port Relanta. Before Captain McDoughless and his ships were even in sight, the loud crack of his canons were heard by the people of Port Relanta like a million whips snapping simultaneously. The black balls of lead flew through the air and struck the defenseless buildings of the port before the ships were in range of the ground cannons. The people of Port Relanta never even stood a chance. Captain McDoughless, for fear of losing his own life, did not leave the ship but instead watched as his men tore the port apart in search of treasures, supplies, and women. Being the sentimental guy he was, Captain McDoughless ordered his crew to spare his father's house, as it would be disrespectful to do otherwise. When the crew had slain all authorities, and taken all they could carry, they returned to the ships where the loot was split equally, half for the crew and half for the captain. Among the women captured was a gypsy, named Sylvia. Being the greedy person he was, Captain McDoughless ordered the gypsy sent to him immediately in hopes of gaining wisdom from her that could lead him to wonderful treasure, the likes of which he had never seen before. Just as he had hoped, the gypsy had a prediction to share with him, but in return, she demanded to be freed.

Van Matre 2

Captain McDoughless agreed to this bargain, for he knew that this prediction would be one that would affect the rest of his life. She told the captain her prediction,“West past the tip of Africa lies a community of primitive dwarfs. There you will find all the riches that you could ever want”. Immediately after hearing this, the Captain released the gypsy, and hoisted up his sails in preparation for his journey to the unknown land.

On June Seventh 1666, the journey west to the unknown land began. Since Captain McDoughless and his crew had all been born along the coast of the Indian Ocean, none of them knew what would lie ahead for them on their journey. Captain McDoughless was the happiest he had ever been, and he had good reason to be. After all, he was about to be the richest pirate East of Africa. At least so he thought.

The next day, the crew was beginning to doubt The Captain's judgment on this journey. After all, the captain had no clue where he was going, all he was basing his directions on was the brief prediction from the gypsy. Suddenly the entire ocean fell down a rippling waterfall like a overflowing cup as the captain and crew were surrounded by a dense layer of fog. For three days they sailed west deeper and deeper into the fog. By this time, things on the ship were not as they usually were. With rations and fresh water running low, many of the crew were getting restless, and starting trouble with one another. Shadows appeared all around the boats, cast like a movie on to the dense layer of fog. Many of the crew began to see other things in the shadows besides just their own silhouettes, due to the troubling times. In order to maintain a normal level of productivity, the captain ordered a new proclamation. “Anyone acting violent in an unnecessary way, not doing their assigned job, or having visual hallucinations, are to be cast overboard by order of The Captain.”

By now it was day four in the unknown land. The crew had reduced in size from 500 to merely 350. All hope had been lost by now of ever finding this magical land, or of even surviving another week. Every hour passed like days, as they are drifting through the fog. All but the Captain had given

up hope, by now and an additional 100 had been thrown overboard where they got to play with the

Van Matre 3

sharks. The captain and crew were preparing their final meal which they must savor because it was likely to be the last meal they ever ate. Just as the dinner bell rang, another bell much louder, and more prominent sounded as the cabin boy Jimmy proclaimed “Land Ho!” A small stretch of land became visible in the fog as a roar of rejoicing bellowed from bottom of the crew's heart's. Could this be the land that they had been searching for? No one knew, but the captain decided that it would be best to start the invasion the next day.

It was the morning of the big day, the cannons were loaded, the decks scrubbed, and the crew was ready as ever. The siege started out as it always did. The gray sky was blotted black with the hundreds of canon balls whistling through the fog, striking the land. As the ships grew nearer the crew heard a sound that was not familiar to them. It sounded like a mix between a squeal and a roar. The noise grew louder and louder until it was almost overbearing to the crew's ears, then it stopped. “Forward Ho” the captain yelled, as the crew got ready to battle the natives of the land, the primitive dwarfs as described by the gypsy. Another flash of gun powder, and another hundred cannonballs flew through the sky toward the land, as the crew hoped to damage whatever structures might be there. Dark shadows were cast on the ships, as giant winged creatures appeared out of the fog. With legs like tree trunks, and jaws like a bear trap, they swooped down and picked off members of the crew one by one. By the time the ships had reached the land, nearly sixty men had been picked off. The crew rushed off the ship prepared for battle against their dwarven opponents, when out of the fog stepped thousands of dwarven warriors, armed to the teeth with swords, shields, and daggers. Many of which were riding animals that looked as if they were the product of a bear and a horse.

Completely outnumbered, the crew fell back empty- handed. They told the captain what they had just witnessed, but he took little interest. Then the captain told them to go back for the treasure, for in his mind he and his crew could not be defeated. For fear of their own lives, the crew sailed away

from the new land anyway, but just as they got a few feet away from the land, dwarfs armed with

Van Matre 4

grapples, drug the ships back to the land. Thousands of dwarfs boarded the pirates ships and overpowered the pirates just as a colony of ants may overpower a large grasshopper. Lead off the ships in handcuffs made of wood, the crew was thinking of all the horrible things they wanted to do to the captain, the man who brought them into all this mess. The crew was put in underground jails, smelling of mold and decay, while the captain was summoned to talk to Emperor Tahowe, emperor of the dwarfs. Tahowe questioned McDoughless of his intentions in his land, why he had immediately attacked his kingdom, and what made them think they could so easily overpower the dwarven army with so few men. McDoughless told the Emperor of his quest for riches that had brought him there, as the result of the gypsy's prophesy. The emperor merely laughed, and told McDoughless that if it was riches that he was seeking, he only had to ask. For the dwarfs had more riches than they knew what to do with. But because of his deceitful ways, The Captain and his crew were forced into slavery, rebuilding all the buildings that the cannons had destroyed and then ordered to be executed.

As the captain thought back on his long life of being a pirate, he remembed all the people that were killed at his sword, all the riches that he plundered, and all the ports that his crew had raided, and for what? The ultimate goal of being a pirate is to obtain as much riches and treasures as you can, and on this quest that was exactly what he sought to do. But being a pirate, the very thing that got him all his riches, also took everything he had ever accumulated away from him. His gold, jewelry, crew, and even his life were to be taken from him. How he wished that he could rewrite his destiny. How he wished that he had listened to his father and became his apprentice in his carpentry shop.

On the day of the execution, the crew was beheaded first. As it was Captain McDoughless' turn to be beheaded, a final strain of consciousness raced through his mind. A vision of the life he could have had back in Port Relanta, a beautiful wife, loving kids, and a sprawling mansion that he could have built with his own two hands. He was still deep in thought about this vision when the blade struck and all turned to blackness.

wiki 5 - Great job on your posts both this week and last. You have a lot of interesting ideas and I enjoy hearing them.
I just got done writing my second english symposiam essay last night. instead of writing my essay in essay format i chose to retell the story of one friday morning from the first person view point as to show the thoughts and fealings of the little black girl better. i think that i might be able to do better on this essay because i dident have to use a lot of quotes or punciation and thats what usually messes me up on essays. i hope i do well on this essay and i hope that you enjoy reading the story of one friday morning from the first person viewpoint that i wrote it in :)

I thought that One friday morning was a very perdictable story. when i first started reading it and found out that she was a black i knew that there was no way that the art comittee would award a person of her race with an award. i thought that the vice principal should have never told her about the award because it would have been better if it was a supprise because then she would not have goten let down when she didn't recieve the award. i also think that if a black student isn't alould to win an award then they shouldn't be alould to even enter it that way there is no confusion because obviously the art comitte had no problem denying her openly the award because of her race.

Week 4
I thought that the Finish of patsy barns was a good heartwarming story. i had never read that story before but it reminded me of another story so much so that i could predic what was about to happen before i even read it, i can not put my finger on what story it was that i read tho. this story was based entirely on opertunitys and chance and i thought a story like this one would have difficulty being true. the hourse just happens to be the one who kills his dad, the kid was in the right place to ask to ride the hourse at the right time and he a child was just given the oppertunity to ride a expencive hourse in a professional race.

Can a 14 year old school dropout reasonably expect success much less the respect of those around him?

a fourteen year old school drop out should not expect anyone to treat him as equal in stature and intelagence as a person who is fully educated but everyone arround should still see that just becasue his mental functionings are not developed doesent mean that he isent a real 14 year old boy never the less. respect should be given to all people just becasue they are humans and all humans deserve respect. the degree of respect that others give you howvere is based on what you do and make of your self in life and if you drop out of school at the age of 14 you should not expect any more than the basic respect for humans in general.

Great job on wiki 3! Glad you're finding the work manageable!
Week Three- I just finnished writing my first essay for english symposiam. it was easyer than i expected it to be, i liked how i dident really have to use citations because i hate having to page through the books that i read in order to just find a word or phrase when i allready read the book. i liked how this essay asked me to write about my opnion on Hubbards quote because i fealt like i could express my fealings tward the subject matter better than if the essay dident ask my oppnion. over all this was one of the best essays i have ever written on because it tested your understanding of the material and gave you a chance to express your fealings tward the subject matter.

The fall of the house of usher is my most favorite story that we have read in class so far this year. i really liked how poe used descriptive language to discribe the houses dark gloomy hallways and other aspects of the house. poe knows how to make the reader feal like he or she is inside the story and inside the house as the reader reads it. another thing i liked about it was that the story keept me interested, i had never read this story before so i dident know what was going to happen. it was a very suspencfull story.

Great work on wiki 2! You have very detailed ideas. I like that you put yourself in Mike's shoes.
Who has the bigger problem? Charles or his mother?
In the story charles the only person that has a problem in my oppnion is Charles. Charles is this imaginary person inside lauries head and laurie makes up all these stories about the bad stuf charles does and tells his parents about it. being a mom lauries mom believes laurie because all moms want to think of there kindergardeners as angles who are being corrupted by other kids. Of course lauries mom is going to believe laurie why wouldent she? Laurie is a kindergardener telling his mom about school why would he lie? but sometimes kindergardeners get into a world of imagination and sometimes they can take it to far as to mimick their imaginary classroom disterber.

Your thoughts? Is it right or wrong for Mike to do what he does to (for?) his grandma?

Mike probally dident know what to do when he visited his grandma. he walks in thinking he is just going to go visit his grandma with his newly grown mustash but instead hes about to make an old lady mistake him for her husband. flat out saying that hes not her husband and condeming her for thingking that would be rong, if she is in a nursing home then she probally has a severe case of azaldsheimers witch can cause you to loose all memory of recient years. she might have forgotten who mike even was. if i was mike i wouldent want to try to reintroduce my self to my grandma because i know that if she dident remember me one time she probally wouldent remember me the next. in a situation like that i think its best that no one talk to the grandma except for people her age from her past so that she can talk and remember about the past. thats how it was with my uncle when he has azaldheimers anyway.

week one -
Now the really fun question: Should Grannies go about giving little kids sticks and sending them out to "battle" other kids??? (personally, I am a granny... so I am very curious as to your advice on this!) :-)
-Giving little kids sticks to go wage war with their friends with might be an exageration but if i was a grandma i would want my grandson or daughter to be able to defend them selfs from bullys or burgulers or people who wanted to hurt them. a better way o do this tho would to enroll your grandson or daughter in a karate delf defence program because people arnt going to think any thing of a kid with two hands but they might wonder what a little kids doing runing around with a club; and in karate the instructor teaches the kids from a early age that katate is only for self defence and it isent ment to be used to attack people.
-I just wanted to write about your teaching style verses the teaching styles of english teachers iv had in the past. i noticed that instead of just giving us a book and saying read it you try to get us interested in the book by reading us a few pages from it and i think that really helps me to pick it up and accually read it once iv sean the comercial. i also like how every caracter has there own special voice when your reading alould it helps me defirenciate between caracters when you are reading. i also think that writing on the wiki is a good idea because you can put up interesting poasts on ur overhead and share it with the class and stuff and it gives us an opertunity to see what other kids wrote about incase we are clueless.
